The Hidden is a thrilling 1980s action-horror hybrid featuring Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Agent Lloyd Gallagher and Michael Nouri as Detective Sergeant Tom Beck. When a mysterious alien parasite begins possessing and killing people in Los Angeles, the two detectives must team up to stop its rampage. What sets The Hidden apart is its unique blend of sci-fi, thriller, and crime drama. With a strong cast, atmospheric cinematography, a suspenseful plot, and well-developed characters, this genre-bending gem has become a cult-classic.

A Mi'gmaq man descends into drug-addled madness when his girlfriend leaves him for his best friend, turning his rage and despair against the only visible enemy: the swarm of cockroaches that have invaded his trailer.


The film premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival. It was named to TIFF's annual year-end Canada's Top Ten list for 2007 and was a finalist for Best Aboriginal Film at the 2008 Yorkton Film Festival. It was a shortlisted Jutra Award nominee for Best Short Film at the 10th Jutra Awards in 2008. 










Director Jeff Barnaby (1976-2022) left an indelible mark in cinema with his unabashed and unsettling work that grappled with themes of post-colonial life and culture. His films were raw, honest, and unapologetic. Through his powerful storytelling, he left an enduring legacy that will continue to shape the landscape of Indigenous cinema.
